Couples trying to cope with the problem of premature ejaculation are often advised that one of the ways to cure premature ejaculation is to embrace sexual positions that minimize the incidence of PE.
The problem of premature ejaculation, just to recap, is one where a man is unable to ‘last long enough’ in bed, so that he ejaculates as soon as he penetrates his partner; or within too short a period of time after penetrating, before she has attained any meaningful sexual satisfaction. It can be caused by physical factors (also called physiological factors), psychological factors or a combination of physiological and psychological factors.
The ways to cure premature ejaculation, then, revolve around addressing those factors. And it is here that the idea of the best and worst positions for premature ejaculations debuts into the discussion, with this being a possible way to cure PE cases caused by the physiological factors that culminate in the penis being too sensitive.
The best positions when trying to cure premature ejaculation
These depend on what is seen as causing the premature ejaculation problem.
Where the problem is being caused by problems to do with the bulbospongious muscles in the glans penis, the best positions to minimize the risk of premature ejaculation are, arguably, those that reduce direct stimulation on the parts of the penis where those muscles are greatly concentrated: the glans penis (that is, the head of the penis), and the first portion of the shaft from the glans. The other portion of the penis, from the middle of the shaft towards the pubic bone, are less sensitive, and if these are the parts that are subjected to most direct stimulation during intercourse, the man may last for a considerable long period of time before coming to a point of ejaculation.
The specific positions we are looking at in this regard include the butterfly position and the so-called ‘stopperage’ position. What happens in both positions is that the female partner lifts up her feet, making for very deep penetration, which reduces friction on the glans and portion of the shaft immediately after it.
Positions that enable the woman to slow down the man, too, are ideal to reduce the chances of premature ejaculation, as are the positions that make it hard for the man to thrust too fast. This is seeing that in some men, the premature ejaculation problem is not caused by any major underlying physical or psychological issues, but rather by the simple fact that they thrust too fast and end up ‘cumming’ too early. Specific positions we are looking at here include the cowgirl position, the cowboy position, and to some extent, the doggy style. The first two give complete control over thrusting speed to the woman. The last, by its nature, slows down the man because it is very hard for most men to thrust too fast in the ‘doggy’ position.
The positions which make it impossible for the man to see the expressions of pleasure on the woman’s face are great too, in this regard. It has been established that the sight of these expressions of pleasure on the woman’s face are very arousing to a man, often causing to ending up ejaculating prematurely. Examples of positions in this category would include the doggy style, and the reverse cowgirl position. In the reverse cowgirl position, the woman ‘receives’ while kneeling on top of the man, but facing away from him. The man doesn’t see the expressions of pleasure on her face, and can therefore keep on thrusting till she orgasms and beyond, possibly giving her multiple orgasms if she is prone to those.
The worst positions when trying to cure premature ejaculation
Conversely, positions that only allow for shallow penetration, exposing the glans and adjacent portion of the shaft are not ideal for a couple struggling with premature ejaculation. This way, the man soon ends up being overwhelmed, and ejaculates. Specifically, we are looking at a position like the classical missionary style, which often makes for very shallow penetration and is too sensitive to the man. The same case applies with positions that cause vaginal constriction, which translates to enhanced friction to the male and, in turn, enhanced risk of premature ejaculation. Here we are looking for likes of the spoons position, where the man enters the woman from the behind while they both lie on their sides. But the woman’s lying on her side ends up constricts her vagina, causing a lot of direct friction on the man. In a case where premature ejaculation seems to be only a result of the man’s too fast thrusting, positions that encourage the same will, of course, not help with a premature ejaculation problem. The missionary position mentioned earlier, and other positions where the man can see the expressions of pleasure on his partner’s face as mentioned earlier are particularly culpable here. The sight of those expressions only motivates him to thrust faster and faster, and he ends up ejaculating too early, before the woman has had a full serving of pleasure.
